Start »» This is a website about me. I am just this girl, who works on open source web based education stuff, and drinks too much. I write mundane crap about things I do. If you're interested in things about me in list format, go here. You can also send me email, or subscribe to my rss feed. My new gpg key id is 0xA110DDD2, and my old (not quite yet deprecated) gpg key id is 0xA30EC22B I have stuff elsewhere, you can find a handy aggregate at mjollnir.org This blog is syndicated on: The image you see above you rotates from a pool. Since these are all photos of me, none of them were taken by me. (Except the silhouette of me standing in front of a window with a kitten on my shoulder. That one is clearly me taking a photo of myself in the mirror) Credit goes out to the people who took them. Feel free to reload the page and look at random images until you run out or get sick of it. I give thumbs up to: vex for hosting my sorry ass, lurbs for making mail go, and serendipity for writing such fine blog software and allowing me to hack it to pieces. my sister got one of these many years ago. She's
possibly a much better globa citizen than me with her good environmental buying policy. Been using one for the last two or three years and I'm still really happy with it.
Some comments: The public bathroom thing really is no problem at all. Tip out, wipe off, put back in. Clean it when you're at home. Get annoyed when you're flatting and, in typical NZ manner, there is no handbasin in the same room as the toilet. Find new place to live. I actually went back to tampons for a while because of the flatting-and-no-handbasin things. I was so happy when I moved and was comfortable using the mooncup again. The pink drawstrings are coincidence. As far as I know, they come in light green, light blue and pink. Btw, if I remember correctly, commonsense organics in Wellington stock them. This is incredibly interesting - i'd never heard of this contraption before, and will investigate further (aka not at work).
There is nothing worse than staying over night at your bf's house, and freaking out about whether or not it will flush down this time. Yuck. Definitely worth it. A few months later and I'm still really happy with it!
I checked up last week of October to see what interesting tales of london and programming your nimble fingers had produced and read this little beauty of a post.
I'd heard about these on the interweb before and thought they were pretty nifty idea then but didn't really care to learn more about them. Being able to read a female's opinion about them actually made mooncups interesting for me since it would be impossible to ask what a girl thinks in real life! And even freakier when I was on camp and the 8 girls decided to start talking about them, it shocked them that a young man knew such things! Keep up the good posts. Thanks! But it shouldn't be impossible to ask about it in real life! I think you'd find most girls will happily talk about periods. We think the stereotype is that guys don't want to hear ;)
Why would girls want to talk about periods?
(or am I just being naive?) To men or eachother?
To eachother - well in the case of something new like a mooncup, the reason is obvious - to share experiences and try and tell your friends about a cool new thing they're missing out on. To men - because maybe it's refreshing that some are interested. Your points are very interesting. I read on the web, and on the brochures, but was never sure it would be a good thing.
They got them (diva cup called here) in our student cafeteria, but disappeared really quickly. I am waiting for the new delivery with big enthusiasm to replacing the old conventional methods ;) Regarding your tagging on this article, I know it is a 'girly' topic, but I also think it is also a question of 'innovation', an use of 'technology' and it is more than appropriate in a geeky blog. Yay! If I remember correctly, the diva cup is exactly the same thing (although maybe made from something different).
You're absolutely on track with your comment about tagging. I am going to retag it :) |
