Start »» This is a website about me. I am just this girl, who works on open source web based education stuff, and drinks too much. I write mundane crap about things I do. If you're interested in things about me in list format, go here. You can also send me email, or subscribe to my rss feed. My new gpg key id is 0xA110DDD2, and my old (not quite yet deprecated) gpg key id is 0xA30EC22B I have stuff elsewhere, you can find a handy aggregate at mjollnir.org This blog is syndicated on: The image you see above you rotates from a pool. Since these are all photos of me, none of them were taken by me. (Except the silhouette of me standing in front of a window with a kitten on my shoulder. That one is clearly me taking a photo of myself in the mirror) Credit goes out to the people who took them. Feel free to reload the page and look at random images until you run out or get sick of it. I give thumbs up to: vex for hosting my sorry ass, lurbs for making mail go, and serendipity for writing such fine blog software and allowing me to hack it to pieces. I took a look at mahara.org - interesting idea, but I'm still confused about the specifics. What other protocols and standards does it use? How does it integrate with Moodle? In short, is there a "webmaster-level intro" for it?
As an aside: can it meet accessibility guidelines and, if so, why does its own website have white link text on a white background? There are more questions than answers - the more I ask, the less I know. It integrates with Moodle over MNET which is the protocol that moodle uses for networking. There's a standard PHP library and I think Drupal has been taught to speak MNET as well. It's basically xmlrpc + ssl. It allows single sign on (and lazy account creation), single sign off, and will allow (in Moodle 2.0, quite a way off) portfolio-ish data to be transferred (eg completed assignments).
Others - we've received some JISC funding for implementing LEAP which i the portfolio standard they're developing... oh I guess you read that already, it was in the blog post. In general, we've been avoiding standards for standards sake. If something good and interesting comes along we're open to it. It does not meet accessibility guidelines and won't work even without javascript :( This is a legacy problem that we're working slowly to improve (open source, need funding etc, you know the story :) ) Where is the white text on white background? That's useful feedback but I can't immediately see it.
I think div#subnav > ul > li > a on http://mahara.org/about is one example.
